Heather Paves, MS, RD, CD is a nationally registered and Washington state-certified dietitian with expertise in child and adolescent eating behaviors.
She was accepted for a LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) nutrition traineeship at the Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD) at the University of Washington to pursue her interest in working with children, teens, and their families. She then went on to complete her master’s degree in science at the University of Washington.
Heather worked as a pediatric dietitian at Seattle Children’s Hospital for 13 years. She worked with various services throughout the hospital over the years, but focused the majority of her time and energy on efforts around weight management for children and teens. Heather helped develop the Child and Adolescent Wellness Programs and Clinics, Strong Kids Strong Teens programs at various YMCA’s in King County, the Pediatric Weight Management Workshops at Children’s Hospital for health care providers, and is a frequent presenter at professional meetings and university classes.
Heather’s vision is to help children, adolescents, and adults have a positive relationship with food, rather than depriving food.
She enjoys anything to do with food – shopping at farmer’s markets, cooking, gardening; playing with her dogs and family, hiking, snowboarding, and reading a book at the beach.
