North Sound Nourishment & Recovery has evolved over time into a practice that focuses on promoting food positive attitudes among children, teens, and adults. The evolution began at the Center on Human Development & Disability at the University of Washington and at Seattle Children’s Hospital and was informed by the childhood growth and feeding experts at both institutions. The breadth of medical conditions that impact a child’s growth and eating behaviors are vast and these institutions provided the window to see the valuable role that nutrition plays in childhood development.

Nutrition education and consultation provided to families was and continues to be informed by the extensive research and clinical work of Ellyn Satter and the Ellyn Satter Institute. After many years of working with Seattle Children’s Hospital, Heather Paves and Dr. Anne Hammond- Meyer met over common interests related to the “Health At Every Size” philosophy and Competent Eating (ecSatter) and Feeding Dynamics (fdSatter) Models of Ellyn Satter Institute.

In 2013, North Sound Nourishment and Recovery opened in downtown Everett to serve families concerned about various feeding issues with their children and people of all ages looking for outpatient treatment for disordered eating and eating disorders.
